I had my monthly appointment with the good Dr. Robinson today at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I can’t believe it has been 9 months since I had my surgery. It has really flown by! My weight loss progress has definitely slowed down over the last couple of months. When I got on the scale today I lost 3 lbs in a month. This brings my total weight loss to 63 lbs. I guess in just over 9 months that is pretty good.
I did discuss with Dr. Robinson why it has slowed down so much and he explained it to me. The lap-band is designed to help patients loose 45% of their “excess body weight” over a two-year process. That is the original design of the instrument. I have lost 55% of my excess body weight in 9 months so I’m well ahead of the curve. He basically said that the lap-band has done its job and now it’s up to me to loose the rest. I need to get my booty back to the gym. My little fender bender last week set me back a few since I can barely walk and my neck and back are killing me..but I’m getting better and will get back to they gym pronto.
I also took my measurements today:
Bust: 34 (same since 2/3/10 – lost a total of 10 inches)
Waist: 35 (same since 2/3/10 – lost a total of 9 inches)
Hips: 40 (down 1.5 since 2/3/10 – lost a total of 11 inches)
Thigh: 22 (down .5 since 2/3/10 – lost a total of 7 inches)
Arm: 11.5 (down. 5 since 2/3/10 – lost a total of 3.5 inches)
