Facebook Timelines for Businesses

by Marissa Sweazy on March 21, 2012

I can’t even tell you how excited I am about this. Yes, anytime there is change it takes a little getting used to but this is a welcome change in my book. Why? It’s going to wipe all the posers off the face of the “facebook” earth! :-)

As you may have heard, March 30th Facebook will force the new timelines onto business pages. This new change includes things like cover photos, removing the “like-gate”, and admin messaging capability (just to name a few). Facebook is strongly emphasizing the power of content rather than likes. It doesn’t matter if you have 5,000 fans if you don’t interact with them and that is what this change is saying. What does this mean for marketers..oh right, what we are PAID to do. Gone are the days of “I have more fans that you..” (well, maybe not right away). Now people should be asking “how many people are ‘talking about this’”. While contests will still be important..they are just another way to interact but are not the end all be all.

Facebook pages of the past might have lived up to the “if you build it, they will come” mentality but not any longer. The old “content is king” is back and bigger than ever. Need help converting your page and actually building your brand rather than just your number of likes, contact me.

There’s a new blog in town…

by Marissa Sweazy on March 16, 2012

I’m trying to focus my efforts here and since I’m sure all my social media readers don’t want to hear about Austin Jr every 5 seconds, I’ve created a new blog - abostonmom.com. On this blog, you can find product reviews, events information, baby updates, and more. This blog is going to go back to it’s original purpose of social media and other life related events. That’s not to say there won’t be an occasional post about the little guy – just not all the time.

We made it to one month! Read all about it at abostonmom.com

February 27, 2012

Baby Austin is 2 weeks and 4 days old. We are starting to get into the swing of things, still sleep deprived but Austin and I have been able to maintain our photo booth business, I’ve been doing work for Aigner and we still find time to watch American Idol and Amazing Race! Note: I [...]

He is finally here. I was pregnant for 40 weeks and 2 days and toward the end – just about had enough. I made it through 14 hours of labor and gave birth to the most precious beautiful baby boy I’ve ever seen. He is one week old tomorrow at 9:51am. Where has a week [...]

You’ll just know…

February 6, 2012

I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, “you’ll know when you are in labor.” I also can’t tell you how much this annoys me. Maybe after I have this baby I’ll understand but seeing as how I’ve been to the hospital twice now thinking I was in labor and wasn’t actually [...]

39 weeks..

February 1, 2012

Well, here I am 39 weeks pregnant and more ready than ever for this baby to come. Austin is feverishly working on the house to get the basement and new kitchen pantry finished and I’m spending most of my time googling “natural ways of inducing labor”. I know, I know. When the baby is ready [...]

Sit here and do nothing…

January 14, 2012

This is not something I do well…nothing. On Tuesday, I’ll be 37 weeks pregnant – relax, sit on the couch, these are the things people tell me I should do. It’s just SO hard for me. As I sit on the couch watching the Patriots kill Denver (yay!) I can’t help but think that Austin [...]

December 19, 2011

I can’t believe I’ve been pregnant for 33 weeks! Roughly 7 more weeks to go but I’m convinced this little bambino is coming early. Although I hope not, because we still have a lot to accomplish! I thought I would inform any other ladies out there who are thinking of getting pregnant or maybe are [...]
